I offer a personalised and encouraging manuscript review service with a range of flexible options to help you on your path to publication.
From helping to hone your synopsis and pitch letter, to a constructive and practical appraisal of a finished first draft, I will do my best to help you achieve your writing goals.
As a bestselling author of commercial fiction, I can look at your novels with a practical, creative and industry-focussed eye.
Please get in touch for a specific price but as a guide, the fees will be:
- Up to 2,500 words (such as opening chapters, pitch letters or synopses) – £75
- Up to 10,000 words (which can include pitch letters, synopses and samples) – £200
- First 30,000 words – £350
- Up to 60,000 words – £500
- Up to 100,000 words – £750
- Up to 120,000 words – £900
Reports will be sent back within 21 days (up to 60,000 words) and 28 days for full manuscripts. If you would like it more urgently, let me know and I will quote for a faster turnaround.

FAQS
What will the appraisal cover?
Every novel is different and I’m happy to focus on the areas where you need most help, but as a rough guide I will look at structure/plot, clarity, characterisation and presentation. As well as providing an overall report, I will also annotate the manuscript with comments, questions and suggestions.
Will you proofread my manuscript?
No, although if I spot recurrent typos and grammatical errors I will flag them up. If you would like your manuscript professionally proofread, I can refer you to experts.
Will you help me get published?
I will give you an honest appraisal of your work and encouragement on how to get it into the best shape to stand a chance of publication. But sadly I can’t guarantee that it will happen.
Will you review picture books or children’s books?
No. My area of expertise is commercial adult novels, so I could not deliver the results you deserve if I read your children’s fiction. If you are struggling to find someone you trust to review your work, do get in touch and I will try to help.
Can I send the manuscript through the post?
No, email only please.
Can I send handwritten work?
No, it will need to be a typed document for legibility.
Do you offer editorial services via any third parties?
